more than the stars over your head

you be the sun, i'll be the shinin'

our spring had been looking pretty darn bleak this year.

but then, i got a sunburn.

just a little rosy on my cheeks, but its from the sun, nonethless.

and i had never been so happy about a sunburn in my life.

you know when exam week starts and you thought you never saw your husband anyways, and then you realize you're REALLY never going to see him??

ty took a break and we got a sunburn together with stelle, our puppy, who is way bigger than a puppy should ever be.

take those moments with all your heart.

didn't see him for a couple weeks later...

me

i will lay down my heart and i'll feel the power

sometimes i feel like i need to take a picture of the same thing every single day because it is so incredible or beautiful or awesome that i can't possibly leave it be. and it just keeps being incredible or beautiful or awesome every. single. day.

these are the same things on separate days.

i don't have to go far to see beauty here.

ps. it seems i have to listen to this every single day as well. 8:11 is my favourite. but how can artists listen to a cheesy 90s country song and think, "this song would be fantastic to cover!" then turn it into this...

i just hear a cheesy 90s song, and then delete it from my life...

and flowers in her hair

her hair is long enough to braid. even longer now. this was in the fall. she was practicing how to hold a new baby. and now she holds that new baby every day.

always be very very careful...

me

ps. listen

scraped knees and splinters

you can leave through the back gate of my parent's house, where i grew up, and walk right into the park of the elementary school i went to. there used to be a park built when the school was built in the 70s, made of monster splinter-causing wood, miles high, little restraint, and the wood just wide enough that, if you held your breath and moved slowly, you could climb up on to the beams and walk along them, high enough that no one could touch you in an intense game of grounders, but would surely break (and did break) bones if you fell.

apparently, too many gravel stuck wounds and shards of wood stuck in too many fingers was enough to tear down the old park and erect a modern one that, i will admit, begrudgingly, is pretty darn cool.

it is, however, more difficult to balance on the beams and take pictures.

but i can still totally win grounders...

this park is where best friends are made. and no more physical risks.

at least not as many...

a pile of cash

she saved my life from under a collapsed bunk bed, made me move to virginia for the best time of my life, planned my wedding before anyone knew we were engaged, and endured years of random dance parties, singalongs, and road trips. and now she's all grown up, married, raising a puppy, and growing a baby.

we like to pretend we're all grown up, anyways...

and cash is no longer a puppy. he is a full grown muppet, frisbee extraordinaire, and will do anything to get a good chase out of you.

hard to take a picture of a puppy who is always moving, but he sure looks good with these two.

love,
me

ps. remember this?

i'd rob a kwik-e-mart for you

what happens when your best friend has a baby? we cry. and refuse to acknowledge that it has been years since we have pulled down our backstreet boys and jonathan taylor thomas magazine clippings off our walls. or that it has been that long since we talked on ICU. or msn. or since we've screamed this or this or this or this or this in the little green car while spinning circles on black ice on crowchild. or that our dreams of being rock stars might have to be put on hold for a while. or that we live on opposite sides of the country. or that we might actually be growing up.

she does make cute babies, though.

we're going to the zoo. how about you?

we went to the zoo. i. love. the. zoo. it is hard not to giggle at a farting hippopotamus, or wrinkle your nose in the large mammal house, or shout for everyone to look at a gorilla picking his nose, or jump at a tiger roar. i love the giraffe's tongue, the rhino's horn, and the penguins jumping straight out of the water and onto their feet.

and why do the peacocks get to roam free?
