you be the sun, i'll be the shinin'

our spring had been looking pretty darn bleak this year.

but then, i got a sunburn.

just a little rosy on my cheeks, but its from the sun, nonethless.

and i had never been so happy about a sunburn in my life.

you know when exam week starts and you thought you never saw your husband anyways, and then you realize you're REALLY never going to see him??

ty took a break and we got a sunburn together with stelle, our puppy, who is way bigger than a puppy should ever be.

take those moments with all your heart.

didn't see him for a couple weeks later...

love,
me

scraped knees and splinters

you can leave through the back gate of my parent's house, where i grew up, and walk right into the park of the elementary school i went to. there used to be a park built when the school was built in the 70s, made of monster splinter-causing wood, miles high, little restraint, and the wood just wide enough that, if you held your breath and moved slowly, you could climb up on to the beams and walk along them, high enough that no one could touch you in an intense game of grounders, but would surely break (and did break) bones if you fell.

apparently, too many gravel stuck wounds and shards of wood stuck in too many fingers was enough to tear down the old park and erect a modern one that, i will admit, begrudgingly, is pretty darn cool.

it is, however, more difficult to balance on the beams and take pictures.

but i can still totally win grounders...

this park is where best friends are made. and no more physical risks.

at least not as many...

think of all of the fun if we played each other on repeat one...

our house is in a truck. and i got my hair did today to celebrate. one more party and a long drive and we're home.

we have also been watching old (like older than 50 years old...) movies. we have decided to stick to musicals, comedy's, and any movie with audrey hepburn or a dance number.

list of things we will miss:
10. spring beginning with magnolias.
11. not needing a sweater at night in the summer.
12. outdoor concerts. everywhere.

lasting impressions... our face in bubbles

the ontario science centre. can you see our faces? apparently, you don't have to be 8 years old to enjoy this stuff. or even bring an 8 year old with you...

these are our last days in toronto.

list of things we will miss:
4. ontario science centre.
5. our neighbour's garden.
6. our neighbour walking in our house with gifts of hearty breads, homemade whole wheat perogies, and polish cakes.
7. city castles.
8. our woods across the road.
9. record stores. everywhere. (newest record: florence and the machine. it may have just changed our lives...)

everyday it's a-gettin' closer

i like to think i was named after buddy holly. and not because i was the 5th child and they couldn't think of a name for me until it was nearly christmas and, well, there was lots of holly around...

just kidding.

but i do love buddy holly. and rock and roll. and my dad.

we'll be home in eleven days.

goin' faster than a roller coaster

please don't talk when my hands are in your mouth...

only one more day to study and i'll never have to study ever again...this video is a good study break. laughing keeps the blood flowing...

ty and scott went to niagra falls so i could study and finish my final projects. they considered going over the falls in a tube, but the weather wasn't cooperating.

scott also likes to take pictures. we like that.

ps. FIFTEEN MORE DAYS!

ordinary regular swedish mealtime

half our house is in boxes. i write the biggest test of my life in a week, and i'd rather be packing. we're also trying to pack all our favourite things to do in toronto into the next couple weeks (twenty-two days!) before we leave for home.

scott visited. so did my dad. tyler finished his semester and took the long exposure he's always wanted to of toronto traffic (one thing we won't miss...). i handed in the biggest project of my life (and apparently tyler caught me taking a nap). and scott showed us this song. we don't know what they're saying, but we're thinking we might walk around toronto like they do for our remaining days here.

a snippet of our lives right now.

r&y

ps. did you hear that? TWENTY-TWO DAYS!

smiling in a graveyard

my little sister and her camera came to visit. she took photos of us. once again, like so many times before, we loaded up our laundry baskets full of odd props and blankets, got all dressed up, and trudged through the woods and graveyards to find a place to snap a few pictures. we are an entertaining bunch. on the way to our first photoshoot almost a year ago, we walked away from one neighbour and heard her laughing all the way down the street...

it was nice to not have to set the camera up on a tripod and run to your spot and look relaxed and candid in only ten seconds. in fact, it was nice to not do anything at all...

thanks chloe. we love you. and miss you, too.

she took the one above. see more here.

we took the ones below with our mamiya 645 and kodak portra 400 film.
